Official Launch
The official launch of the West Waikato Coastal Community Catchment Group was an incredible success, with 166 people in attendance bringing together our community to celebrate, connect, and kick off this exciting project.
The event began on a meaningful note, with local kaumatua Russell Ricky officially opening the launch. His words set the tone perfectly, reminding us of the importance of community, sustainability, and working together for a brighter future. It was a privilege to have his wisdom and blessings as we embark on this journey.
The entries to our photo competition were nothing short of stunning, showcasing the talent and unique perspectives of our community, each photo telling its own story.
We launched our first Spud in a Bucket competition. Everyone who attended got to take home their very own bucket and spud, ready to compete for the title of heaviest spud in just 80 days. We can’t wait to see the results—and hear the stories—when the competition wraps up!
The highlight of the day was wildlife biologist Cam Speedy, who kept the room completely captivated with his engaging talk. Cam shared fascinating insights into pest control, offering practical and effective tips that had everyone taking notes. His passion for wildlife and conservation shone through as he explained the vital role pest control plays in creating a balanced and thriving ecosystem.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, participated, or helped make this event possible. Here’s to the start of something great!
